Dr. Yuhang Wang is a Professor in the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on atmospheric chemistry, aerosols, climate modeling, and air pollution. He holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Chemistry from Harvard University (1997), M.A. from Harvard (1994), M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from University of Wyoming (1992), and B.S. from Beijing University (1990).
Key research interests include tropospheric oxidants, multiscale atmospheric modeling, reactive chemistry mechanisms, and the impacts of air pollution on climate and human health. His work spans field measurements, remote sensing analysis, and numerical simulations to address regional and global environmental challenges. Notable contributions include studies on aerosol optical properties, wildfire-climate interactions, and ozone formation dynamics in industrialized regions.
He has advised numerous graduate students and led projects on topics like planetary boundary layer processes, trans-boundary pollution transport, and satellite data validation. His lab collaborates internationally, focusing on high-impact studies in China, the U.S., and globally. Current efforts include developing advanced fire emission models (e.g., RESFire) and investigating climate feedback mechanisms amplifying wildfire risks.
Major grants include funding for wildfire-climate projects, aerosol radiative forcing studies, and air quality modeling initiatives. Ongoing work explores the implications of emission reductions on radical chemistry and the health risks of particulate matter composition.
