YueQi Zhang

YueQi Zhang is a Teaching Assistant in Opera at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin. He holds roles as a staff pianist at New York University and a vocal coach at Manhattan School of Music. His expertise spans collaborative piano, vocal coaching, and opera performance, with international experience across Asia, Europe, and North America.

Education includes Master’s degrees in Collaborative Piano (Manhattan School of Music) and Vocal Performance (Nanjing University of the Arts), alongside a Professional Performance Diploma from Manhattan School of Music. He is pursuing a Doctorate at the Butler School under Tamar Sanikidze.

Research interests focus on vocal technique, opera production, and interdisciplinary musical collaboration. Notable engagements include summer festivals such as the Glimmerglass Festival (2023) as a young artist pianist, Aspen Music Festival (2024) as an Opera Coaching Fellow, and Cleveland Artsong Festival (2022). Masterclasses with Thomas Hampson and Michael Heaston further enrich his pedagogical approach.

Active in performance, Zhang has collaborated with luminaries like Warren Jones and Anthony Roth Costanzo. His work emphasizes bridging classical vocal traditions with contemporary performance practices. The Butler Opera Center serves as a key platform for his creative and educational endeavors.
