James Maverick is a Lecturer in Collaborative Piano at The University of Texas at Austin’s Butler School of Music since 2021, teaching vocal accompanying and coaching. He concurrently serves as music staff and Assistant Chorus Master at Cincinnati Opera, and collaborates with Austin Opera as pianist and music director for LatinX Residency workshops. He has prepared new operas through Opera Fusion and Opera Philadelphia, and previously held roles as Chorus Master at Lyric Opera of Kansas City and Resident Artist (2017–2019). His professional affiliations include Wolf Trap Opera, Merola Opera Program, and Tanglewood Music Center.
