Yue Liu

Dr. Yue Liu serves as a Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley's School of Optometry & Vision Science, holding the prestigious Pamela P. Fong Faculty Chair in Optometry & Health Care. She founded the Myopia Control Clinic—the first dedicated academic clinic of its kind in the United States—which has become a national model for integrating myopia management into optometric education and clinical practice.

Her educational journey began with ophthalmology practice in Beijing, followed by relocation to the U.S. in 2000. She earned an MBA prior to completing her Doctor of Optometry (OD) at Pacific University, then pursued advanced degrees at UC Berkeley including a Master of Public Health (MPH) and PhD.

Dr. Liu's research centers on optical and pharmacological interventions for myopia control, with emphasis on novel contact lens designs (particularly orthokeratology) and low-dose atropine therapies. Her work bridges clinical optometry, vision science, and public health, addressing the global myopia epidemic through translational research. She has significantly contributed to international myopia management guidelines as a key author for the International Myopia Institute reports.
