Yue Chen is a Lecturer in the School of Engineering and Technology (SET) at UNSW Canberra. She holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Adelaide (2022), with a focus on transparent soil, ground improvement, soil stabilization, and numerical modeling. Her research spans experimental and computational approaches to geotechnical challenges.
- PhD: University of Adelaide, 2022
Research Interests: Yue Chen specializes in geotechnical engineering, particularly in transparent soil modeling, ground improvement techniques (e.g., geosynthetic reinforcement, rolling dynamic compaction), and numerical simulations of soil behavior under dynamic loads. Her work addresses sustainable construction practices and material reuse, such as recycled concrete aggregates and bio-based soil stabilization.
Publications: Yue's research output centers on geotechnical challenges, including ground improvement, dynamic compaction, and environmental impacts on soil properties. Her recent work explores geogrid-reinforced soils, microplastic contamination effects, and advanced laboratory testing methodologies.
Grants: Yue serves as a Chief Investigator (CI) on projects funded by the Australia Research Council (AUD $708,000), Department of Industry (AUD $67,540), and UNSW Seed Funding (AUD $45,000). These projects focus on pavement engineering, rammed earth construction, and low-carbon infrastructure design.
