Yudong Liu is a Professor and Director of the BS Computer Science program at Western Washington University's Department of Computer Science, part of the College of Science and Engineering. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University, advised by Dr. Anoop Sarkar. Her research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP) applied to education and language learning, information extraction from social media data, and eye-tracking technologies for educational insights and user authentication. She also emphasizes ethics education in AI curricula.

Research Highlights
Recent work includes organizing the inaugural Ancient Language Processing Workshop at RANLP 2023 (co-led with international collaborators) and presenting at SIGCSE 2023. Her eye-tracking research bridges human-computer interaction and cybersecurity applications.

Current roles include CS transfer advisor (Fall 2023 onward) and departmental leadership. She was on professional leave during Fall 2022 and Winter 2023.
