Yuanpu Peter Di is a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. His research explores environmental exposure impacts on pulmonary host defense, chronic disease pathogenesis, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) mechanisms.
Research Interests:
- Elucidating SPLUNC1/BPIFA1's role in lung immunity and disease
- Investigating inflammation-associated lung tumorigenesis and K-ras mutation dynamics
- Developing novel antimicrobial peptides (e.g., PAX, WLBU2) to combat multidrug-resistant infections
- Studying lung stem cell biology and epithelial repair mechanisms
Publications demonstrate expertise in:
- Environmental toxicant effects on respiratory systems
- Antimicrobial peptide-membrane interactions
- Host-pathogen dynamics in bacterial/viral coinfections
- Translational applications of urinary bladder matrix
- Genomic approaches to lung disease mechanisms
His work combines in vitro and in vivo models with advanced bioinformatics and molecular biology techniques.
