Yuan Lu

Yuan Lu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Design, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), with a focus on personalized behavior change technology and design for health. Since 2021, she serves as the Education Director for Bachelor and Graduate programs at TU/e. Her research spans wearable technologies for physical activities, dietary intake monitoring, and preventive health interventions for older adults and patients with cardiovascular diseases or hypothalamic brain tumors. She collaborates with Wageningen University of Research, University of Utrecht, University Medical Center Utrecht, Maximal Medical Center, and Princess Maxima Medical Center, supported by grants from the Dutch Heart Foundation and Dutch Cancer Foundation.

Her research integrates multi-stakeholder co-design and clinical implementation studies, addressing challenges in customer satisfaction, reliability analysis, and digital health ethics. Recent work includes gamified lifestyle interventions and AI-driven dietary monitoring systems.

Yuan Lu has supervised over 90 bachelor's/master's students and 16 PhD/EngD candidates. She co-developed the TU/e bachelor USE learning line 'New Product Development and Marketing' and established project squad education on Studio Silver (2015-2017). She has served on various academic committees, including the faculty graduate program admission committee (2014-2021).
