Yuan Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science at North Carolina State University, with an affiliation in Physics. He holds a B.S. in Physics from Tsinghua University (2015), followed by M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from Brown University (2018 and 2020). Prior to NC State, he was a postdoctoral researcher at MIT's Research Laboratory of Electronics and Department of Physics. His research focuses on quantum information science, quantum engineering, and their intersections with theoretical chemistry and computer architecture. Key subfields include quantum algorithms, hybrid quantum systems (oscillator-qubit), error mitigation, and quantum sensing.
Research Highlights: Liu's work emphasizes hybrid continuous-discrete variable quantum computing, quantum signal processing, and compiler frameworks for Hamiltonian simulation. Recent projects include developing the Genesis compiler for hybrid quantum systems and exploring multinode superconducting architectures (ARQUIN).
