Yu-Shin Ding is a Professor in both the Department of Radiology and the Department of Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Their research focuses on medical imaging applications in neurology, psychiatry, and metabolic disorders, with emphasis on PET imaging for studying neurodegenerative diseases, addiction, obesity, and cardiovascular dysfunction. Dr. Ding holds a PhD from Stony Brook University and completed postdoctoral training in PET imaging at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
In clinical trials, Dr. Ding serves as Principal Investigator for studies on racial/ethnic discrimination's impact on Alzheimer's risk via locus coeruleus-neuropeptide (LC-NE) function. They also contribute as Sub Investigator and Co-Investigator in projects exploring tau pathology and temperature effects in Alzheimer's progression. Their interdisciplinary work bridges radiology, psychiatry, and endocrinology, with over 180 publications in high-impact journals like RSC Medicinal Chemistry and Annals of Clinical & Translational Neurology.
Key research areas include developing novel PET radioligands for neurodegenerative biomarkers, investigating serotonin/noradrenaline systems in obesity treatment, and studying brown adipose tissue metabolism. Their lab's innovations aim to advance early detection and therapeutic approaches for Alzheimer's, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions through cutting-edge imaging techniques.
