Dr. Yu Qian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of South Carolina's Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing. His research specializes in transportation geotechnics and railroad infrastructure, with particular focus on heavy haul transit systems, high-speed rail networks, pavement design, geosynthetic applications, and discrete element modeling.
Active committee member for multiple TRB and AREMA technical committees and the ASCE Rail Transportation Committee. His work addresses critical infrastructure challenges through computational modeling and empirical analysis of track structures and pavement systems.
