Youshaa Patel is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Lafayette College, specializing in the intersection of Islam, Ethics, and Public Life. His research focuses on inter-religious cooperation, Islamic scripture/law, and conflict resolution, supported by grants from Mellon, Fulbright-Hays, and the American Institute of Yemeni Studies. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. from Duke University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. Patel’s work integrates pedagogical innovation through debates, literature, and Quran translation analysis to foster critical thinking and empathy in students. His fieldwork spans the Middle East and South Asia, including research stays in Qatar, Yemen, India, Jordan, and Syria.
