Dr Yousef Moradi is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Experienced Researcher in the Department of Religions and Philosophies at SOAS University of London. He holds a PhD in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology from Freie Universität Berlin (2016). His research focuses on Sasanian and early Islamic archaeology in the Near East and Central Asia, specializing in Zoroastrian studies, sigillography, and urban/landscape archaeology. He has directed archaeological projects at UNESCO sites like Takht-e Solayman and Bisotun, and collaborates on the Seals and Sealing Practices Project funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 Programme.
Education: PhD in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology, Freie Universität Berlin (2016).
Research Interests: Archaeology of the Near/Middle East & Central Asia, Sasanian and early Islamic periods, Zoroastrian rituals, sigillography, fire temple studies, and urban archaeology. His work emphasizes material culture analysis, particularly clay bullae and seals, to explore administrative practices and religious dynamics.
Publications Overview: Over 10 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on Sasanian seals, fire temples, and regional archaeology. Key works include analyses of Takht-e Solayman's clay bullae and edited volumes like AfarinNameh honoring archaeologist Mehdi Rahbar.
