Dr. Youngsoo Kim is a Lecturer in Business Management at the Business School, University of Aberdeen, joining in January 2023. His research centers on the intersection of marketing and positive psychology, particularly in tourism contexts, focusing on cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects of consumer decision-making.
His research interests include tourism memory, experiential marketing, consumer well-being, psychological need satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. He employs advanced methodologies such as scale development, experimental design, and longitudinal analysis to generate theoretical and practical insights for tourism management.
The recent publications highlight a strong trend in understanding how tourists' memories and emotional experiences influence well-being and future behaviors. His work integrates self-determination theory and affective-cognitive models to explain tourist motivations and outcomes, contributing significantly to both tourism marketing and consumer psychology.
He has published in top-tier journals including the Journal of Travel Research and Annals of Tourism Research.
Dr. Kim is actively involved in PhD supervision and teaches courses in consumer behavior, research methods, and international tourism management. He is accepting new PhD students in Business Management. He is a member of the Business School’s research community, contributing to ongoing projects in tourism and marketing.
