Young-Shin Lee is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, San Diego State University (SDSU), part of the College of Health and Human Services. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and nursing degrees from Seoul National University. She has held faculty positions at SDSU since 2003, with visiting roles at Chung-Ang University (Seoul, Korea) and the University of San Diego. Her research focuses on gerontology, public health, health disparities, and nursing education. She has led grants totaling over $2.5M, including the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (HRSA) and studies on Korean-American health issues. Lee has received prestigious awards like the Carol A. Lindeman Award (2004) and the John Hartford Foundation Geriatric Nursing Education Award (2014). She mentors students in community health projects and serves on national organizations such as the Asian American/Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA).
