Younas Khan

Younas Khan is a Lecturer and Lab Coordinator in the Department of Physics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. With a research focus on planetary science, he investigates cometary volatile composition using near-IR spectroscopy from major observatories including NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility and Keck Observatory. Khan earned his M.Phil. from the University of Peshawar and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Missouri Saint Louis.

His teaching philosophy emphasizes hands-on experimentation and data analysis to develop physics understanding. Khan coordinates undergraduate physics laboratories and teaches astronomy courses, with goals to make astronomy accessible through remote tools and encourage student collaboration. He previously taught physics for three years in Pakistan and engages in public astronomy outreach through telescope events and radio programs.
