Youn Mi Lee is a Professor of Family Science at the Mississippi University for Women (MUW), based in the College of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on intimate partner abuse, cultural diversity, divorce, women’s issues, and qualitative methodologies. She holds a Ph.D. in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia (2006), along with earlier degrees from Sook Myung Women’s University in Seoul, Korea (B.A. 1993; M.A. 1995).

Her work examines cultural contexts in marital abuse, post-divorce adjustment among Korean immigrant women, and intergenerational dynamics like alcoholism and elder abuse. She also investigates helicopter parenting across U.S., China, and South Korea, as well as aging-related topics including income inequality and cultural competency for elderly immigrants.
