Yordan Sbirkov

Yordan Sbirkov is an Associate Professor at the Medical University of Plovdiv, affiliated with the Department of Medical Biology. His research spans molecular and regenerative medicine, with a focus on 3D bioprinted cancer models and cartilage tissue bioengineering.

Education:

• BSc in Cancer Biology and Immunology, University of Bristol (2011)
• PhD in Epigenetics and Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Institute of Cancer Research, London (2016)

Research Interests:

• Development of 3D bioprinted models of colorectal cancer
• Testing chemotherapeutics in physiologically accurate 3D microenvironments
• Cartilage tissue bioengineering for regenerative medicine
• Cellular metabolism and drug resistance in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
