Subha Narayan Rath

Subha Narayan Rath is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. He earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore, M.M.S.T. from IIT Kharagpur, and MBBS from M.K.C.G. Medical College, Berhampur. Dr. Rath leads the Regenerative Medicine and Stem cell (RMS) Lab, focusing on 3D bioprinting, stem cell research, and biomaterials development.

• Research Interests: Tissue engineering, stem cell differentiation, 3D cancer-on-chip models, bioengineered biomaterials, and biomedical devices.
• Laboratory Focus: Investigates interactions between stem cells and biomaterials using mechanical forces, develops 3D bioprinted tissues, and explores applications in osteochondral regeneration, diabetes, and cancer therapy.

Publications span 3D bioprinting, cancer models, and biomaterials, with recent works on hypoxia-mimicking hydrogels and T-type calcium channel antagonists in chemotherapy. His lab integrates interdisciplinary approaches, including nanoscience, biomedical engineering, and molecular biology.

Students in his group work on diverse topics such as 3D vascular models, diabetic wound healing, cancer-on-chip systems, and biomaterials from marine sources.

Laboratory Equipment: Includes 3D bioprinters, bioreactors, real-time PCR, fluorescent microscopes, and microfluidic platforms.
