Yoram Shiftan is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, serving as Head of the Israeli Smart Transportation Research Center. He specializes in travel behavior analysis, transport policy, and project evaluation, with recent focus on autonomous vehicles' urban impacts. His work includes leadership roles in EU initiatives like WISE-ACT (Autonomous Vehicle Impacts) and TEA (Transport Equity Analysis).
Education: PhD from MIT. Extensive visiting professorships at institutions including ETH Zurich, University of Michigan, and Northwestern University. Over 100 refereed papers and five co-edited books.
Research Interests: Integrating emerging technologies into transportation systems, equity considerations in transport planning, and decision-making frameworks for large-scale infrastructure projects. Current consulting includes cost-benefit analysis for Tel-Aviv's $40B metro system.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Israeli Smart Transportation Research Center, collaborating on smart mobility solutions and resilient infrastructure strategies.
