Yongpei Guan is the George and Rolande Willis Endowed Professor and Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University of Florida. He directs the Computational Optimization and Energy Systems Lab and the Center for Applied Optimization. His roles include serving as Interim Chair (2015–2016) and holding the University of Florida Term Professorship (2017–2022).
His research focuses on stochastic optimization, energy systems, healthcare operations, and supply chain resilience. Notable contributions include methodologies addressing medical supply chains, energy storage systems, and pandemic resource planning. His work has earned NSF Career Award (2008), ONR Young Investigator Award (2010), and fellowships from AAIA (2022), IEEE (2021), and IISE (2019).
Editorial roles include Department Editor for IISE Transactions and Associate Editorships for Operations Research and INFORMS Journal on Computing. He has advised award-winning student papers, including Nicholson Best Student Paper (First Place) and multiple Pritsker Dissertation Awards.
Lab activities prioritize energy systems modeling, healthcare logistics, and resilient supply chain design. Current projects explore machine learning-embedded approaches for medical supply chains and telehealth service networks.
