Yonca ÇAVUŞ is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Beykent University's Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. She teaches courses in Water Supply and Sewage Disposal, Engineering Hydrology, Hydroelectric Power Plants, Hydraulics, and Fluid Mechanics in both English and Turkish.
Her educational background and academic journey have led her to specialize in water resources engineering with a focus on hydrology and drought analysis. She has progressed from Research Assistant (2019) to her current position as Assistant Professor (2024).
Dr. ÇAVUŞ's research interests center around Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, and Drought Analysis. Her work particularly focuses on drought characterization using intensity-duration-frequency curves, water budget calculations using the Budyko framework, and flood frequency analysis. She conducts research on various river basins including the Seyhan River Basin, Kucuk Menderes Basin, and has also worked on international comparative studies including in Germany's Kocher catchment.
Her recent research trends show an increasing focus on interdisciplinary approaches, including examining gender perspectives in hydrology and developing co-creation frameworks for water resources management solutions. Her work spans both theoretical hydrological modeling and practical water management applications.
- Budyko Curve analysis for long-term water budget calculations
- Drought characterization using intensity-duration-frequency curves
- Flood and low flow frequency analysis
- Spatial drought monitoring using remote sensing and ground data
- Cross-cultural water management studies
Dr. ÇAVUŞ has been actively involved in numerous international and national conferences, presenting her research at venues including the EGU General Assembly, IAHS Scientific Assembly, and various Turkish hydrology congresses. Her collaborative work spans multiple institutions and countries, reflecting the global nature of water resource challenges.
