Yonas Lebsir is a Ph.D. Research Fellow at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) since September 2023, affiliated with the POLIMA research group. He holds a B.Sc. (2020) and M.Sc. (2023) in physics from the University of Kiel, Germany, with research stays at Complutense University Madrid, Spain (2018), and SDU's Center for Nano Optics (2021). His work focuses on the optical tunability of transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers using tensile strain, heterostructure assembly of 2D materials, and advanced optical characterization techniques like photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence microscopy.
- Supervisors: N. Asger Mortensen, Sergii Morozov
Research Interests:
- Strain engineering of 2D materials
- Photonic and plasmonic properties in nanostructures
- Optical loss quantification in metals
- Heterostructure fabrication via polymer-assisted transfer
- Multi-modal microscopy (Raman, AFM, CL, PL)
Publication Trends: His work bridges nanophotonics, material science, and plasmonics, emphasizing optical behavior in 2D and metallic nanostructures through experimental and quantitative approaches.
