Yolanda Shields serves as Lecturer and Director of Entrepreneurship (HIVE) at Shenandoah University's Business school. She holds a B.S., an MBA in Human Resources Management & Entrepreneurship, and a Doctor of Religious Philosophy in Christian Leadership. With over twenty years of experience as a global business consultant and strategist, Dr. Shields specializes in workforce development, entrepreneur ecosystems, and social entrepreneurship.
Her research interests include:

- Public-private partnerships
- Workforce pipeline strategy
- International workforce development
Dr. Shields holds significant public service appointments including the Virginia State Labor and Workforce Development Board (appointed by Governor Youngkin) and previously served as Vice-Chair of Tennessee's Oversight Committee for 15+ years. She currently co-chairs the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Development Board and chairs GO Virginia Region 8 Council. As an active mentor, she contributes to the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Vanderbilt University's Wond'ry Innovation Center, and TheStartup.com. She has published six books, including THE GIG ECONOMY- The Future of Work (2023), and is a Huffington Post contributor.
