Yohei Sekiguchi is an Assistant Professor of English at Tokyo Metropolitan University. His research focuses on American Studies, particularly the representation of white middle-class fatherhood in late 20th-century culture, intersecting with neoliberalism and melodrama. He holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, alongside M.A. and B.A. degrees in English from the University of Tokyo.
His work includes analyses of Tim O’Brien’s Vietnam War narratives and captivity literature, exploring themes of identity, trauma, and cultural critique. Current projects involve a book examining fatherhood’s portrayal in American culture through the lens of neoliberalism.
