Yinqi Zhang is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Kogod School of Business, American University. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Temple University, along with M.S. (Economics) and B.S. (Accounting) degrees from Tsinghua University. Her research focuses on audit quality determinants, regulatory scrutiny, and ESG disclosure, with publications in top journals such as Contemporary Accounting Research and the Review of Accounting Studies. She currently serves on the editorial board of Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory.
Dr. Zhang teaches courses including Principles of Managerial Accounting and Data Analytics for Accounting. Her research explores intersections between auditing practices and corporate governance, with recent work examining Big 4 auditors' impact in China, aggressive tax planning effects, and IPO internal control disclosures. She has published over 15 articles since 2005, addressing topics ranging from PCAOB inspections to SOX-era earnings management.
