Yinglong Chen is an ARC Future Fellow and Professor at The University of Western Australia (UWA) since 2006, affiliated with the School of Agriculture and Environment and the Institute of Agriculture. He holds honorary titles such as Honorary Professor at The University of Lahore and Guest Professor at Ningxia University. His research focuses on crop root systems, rhizosphere interactions, and agricultural sustainability, with over 390 publications in top journals like Nature Communications and Trends in Plant Science. He leads major grants, including a $786k ARC Future Fellowship and a $1.6M industry project on castor bean development.
Education: B.S., M.Ag., Ph.D. Prior to UWA, he served as Assistant Professor at the Chinese Academy of Forestry (1997–2002). Research highlights include pioneering root phenotyping platforms and advancing drought-resistant crop cultivars. Awards include the UWA School of Agriculture Senior Research Award (2024) and Editor-in-Chief of Crops journal.
Research interests span root architecture modeling, mycorrhizal symbiosis, and soil microbiology. He collaborates globally and advises HDR students on root stress physiology and rhizosphere dynamics.
