Dr. Ying Xin Show is a Senior Lecturer at the ANU School of Culture, History and Language (ANU College of Asia and Pacific) and Deputy Director of the ANU Malaysia Institute. She holds a PhD from Nanyang Technological University Singapore and specializes in Southeast Asian cultural history, diaspora studies, and Cold War impacts on literature. Her DECRA-funded project (2023-2026) examines Chinese literary culture in Cold War Malaya through book and documentary formats.
Her research explores:
- Transnational feminist networks in postwar Malaya
- Radical women's writing and leftist political thought
- Memory politics of the Malayan Emergency
- Chinese-Malayan identity formation
- Inter-Asia cultural translation practices
Publications emphasize Cold War literary resistance, gendered diaspora experiences, and decolonial methodologies. Recent works analyze partisan literature as palimpsests of historical trauma and transnational sisterhood in feminist periodicals.
