Ying Li is the Phlyssa Koshland Professor of Fine Arts and Chair of the Fine Arts Department at Haverford College. She is represented by the Lohin Geduld Gallery in New York.
- Education: BFA from Anhui Teachers University (1974-77), MFA from Parsons School of Design (1987)
Her artistic practice explores the interplay between abstraction and representation, characterized by bold colors, earthy textures, and calligraphic lines. Trained in Chinese painting and calligraphy, she infuses her work with a disciplined yet expressive brushwork. Reviews of her work have appeared in major art publications, including Art Forum and Art in America.
Notable awards include the Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Award, multiple fellowships (Valparaiso, Heliker–LaHotan, Vermont Studio Center), and the Lindback Faculty Research Grant. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with solo shows at Lohin Geduld Gallery (NY) and Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery (Haverford College), and group exhibitions at the National Academy Museum (NY) and the Hermitage Foundation Museum (VA).
