Dr. Yin Zhou is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health, specializing in diagnostic safety and early cancer diagnosis in primary care. She holds a salaried GP position and serves as a GP Trainer. As interim lead for the Integrated Academic Training programme for GP ACFs and ACLs, she bridges clinical practice and academic training.
Dr. Zhou’s research focuses on optimizing diagnostic pathways for cancer, particularly bladder and kidney cancers, using electronic health records and quantitative methods. Her work addresses diagnostic delays, healthcare disparities, and intervention development. She completed her MBBS at University College London, an MSc at the London School of Economics, and a PhD at the University of Cambridge (supported by a Wellcome Trust Doctoral Fellowship).
Her research systematically reviews risk prediction models, evaluates imaging strategies, and analyzes pre-diagnostic blood test patterns. She has contributed to studies on symptom-based sex disparities in cancer diagnosis and the impact of diagnostic biomarkers in primary care settings.
Dr. Zhou’s awards include the Wellcome Trust Doctoral Fellowship. She has supervised medical and MPhil students and is actively involved in the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, advancing population health and clinical practice through interdisciplinary collaboration.
