Yijia Lu is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University. He holds a PhD in Economics from Yale University, a JD from Stanford Law School, and a BA in Physics from Princeton University. His scholarship focuses on the economic analysis of legal processes, particularly enforcement mechanisms and institutional features in dispute resolution.
Professor Lu's research examines how intrinsic moral motivation, reputation, monetary sanctions, and institutional design (e.g., jury trials, plea bargaining) influence legal outcomes. He combines theoretical analysis with experimental methods, including studies on motivational crowding out and judicial interest rates. His work also spans comparative law and political economy.
