Yifan Chen is an Assistant Professor of Finance and Real Estate at the Shidler College of Business, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and serves as Faculty Advisor for the Real Estate Finance Track. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Real Estate and Finance from The Pennsylvania State University and a B.A. in Finance from Renmin University of China. His research focuses on real estate finance, urban economics, and housing market dynamics, with notable contributions to understanding sequential information revelation in housing markets and rationality tests in China's real estate sector.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Real Estate and Environmental Law, Real Estate Finance and Investment, and Real Estate Investment Analysis. He has received prestigious awards including the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association Junior Scholar Program (2025) and the Summer Research Grant from UH Manoa (2023–2025). His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis, addressing critical issues like mortgage impacts on household consumption and firm location strategies in urban contexts.
