Yichen Christy Zhou is an Associate Professor of Economics in the John E. Walker Department of Economics at Clemson University's Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. She holds a Ph.D. (2016) and M.A. (2014) in Economics from University of Maryland at College Park, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from University of Virginia (2010).
Her research examines market dynamics in energy and transportation sectors, with focus areas including:
- Environmental regulation impacts on industrial innovation
- Consumer and firm responses to energy policies
- Technological adoption in transportation systems
- Labor market implications of energy transitions
Zhou's publications demonstrate methodological innovation in causal inference and structural modeling applied to vehicle markets, air transportation efficiency, and regional economic impacts of environmental policies. She has secured research funding from the NSF, BBSRC, and NBER for projects on clean energy transitions and work transformation.
As doctoral advisor, she has guided 11 PhD students to completion on topics spanning energy economics, industrial organization, and labor markets. Her research team develops econometric approaches to evaluate sustainable technology adoption and industrial policy effectiveness.
