Dr. Yi-Ting Tzen is a Principal Investigator at the UT Southwestern Medical Center's School of Health Professions, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her research focuses on early detection and prevention of pressure injuries in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI), leveraging biomarkers, non-invasive perfusion monitoring, and assistive technologies. She has clinical expertise in physical therapy and bioinstrumentation, with a strong background in signal processing and rehabilitation engineering.
Key research areas include identifying risk factors for pressure injuries, evaluating interventions like local cooling and alternating pressure devices, and exploring lipidomics and serum biomarkers for early prediction. Collaborations include work with orthopedic surgery and PM&R departments at UT Southwestern.
Recent contributions include presentations at the 2024 ACRM Conference and NPIAP Webinar, and leadership roles in the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel. She has secured grants from the Paralyzed Veterans of America and received the 2023 UT Southwestern Research Recognition Award.
