Yi-Ting Hsu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Notre Dame, part of the College of Science. She is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award (2023–2028) and leads the Hsu Research Group, focusing on theoretical condensed matter physics.
Education: PhD in Physics from Cornell University (2017), BS in Physics from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan (2010).
Research interests center on quantum many-body systems, particularly
- Topological phases protected by crystalline symmetries
- Unconventional superconductivity
- Correlated phases in van der Waals materials
- Machine learning applications to condensed matter problems
Recent work includes studies on optical signatures of topological superconductors, DOE-funded research on quasiparticle Berry curvature in superconductors, and NSF CAREER-supported projects on moiré systems. Her group explores dynamical phases in isolated quantum systems and has published in top journals like Physical Review Letters and Nature Communications.
Awards include the NSF CAREER Award and collaborative grants. Advising includes graduate student Shih-Chuan (Robert) Lien and postdocs like Hyeok-Jun Yang and Tzu-Chi Hsieh.
Labs/Teams: The Hsu Research Group investigates topological and correlated quantum systems, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to condensed matter theory. Current projects focus on topological superconductivity, moiré materials, and machine learning-driven methodologies.
