Yi Ni

Yi Ni is a Professor of Mathematics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he has been serving since 2015. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Caltech from 2009 to 2015. His academic journey began with a B.S. from Peking University in 2001, followed by an M.S. in 2003, and culminated with a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2007.

Professor Ni's research focuses on Low Dimensional Geometry and Topology. His work encompasses several specialized areas including:

• Heegaard Floer homology and its applications
• Gauge theory
• Symplectic Geometry
• Khovanov homology

He also maintains significant interest in related fields such as hyperbolic geometry, combinatorial topology, geometric group theory, foliations and laminations, and dynamics. His research contributes to the theoretical foundations of mathematics with potential applications across various scientific disciplines.
