معرفی
Yeongho Kim is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Cell Biology at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on lipid metabolism and cell biology, particularly the interplay between cholesterol and sphingolipid dynamics in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. He holds a PhD in Genetics, Cellular, and Molecular Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2018) and a BS in Life Science from Pohang University of Science and Technology (2012). His postdoctoral work under Dr. Christopher G. Burd explored lipid trafficking and organelle identity mechanisms.
Education:
- PhD, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2018
- BS, Pohang University of Science and Technology, 2012
Research Interests:
Kim investigates how cholesterol regulates sphingolipid synthesis at inter-organelle contact sites, with a focus on Alzheimer’s-related amyloid-beta production. His work bridges basic lipid biology with disease mechanisms, emphasizing membrane contact site-mediated cargo export and lipid homeostasis.
Key Research Trends:
His publications highlight calcium signaling at ER-TGN contact sites, cholesterol-sphingolipid interplay, and genetic disorders affecting lipid landscapes. Recent work includes studies on lysosomal repair mechanisms and SMS2 mutations linked to osteoporosis.
Awards:
- Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Research Scholars Award (2023)
Lab Affiliation:
Kim is part of the Burd Lab, investigating organelle membrane identity and lipid trafficking pathways.
