Yapeng Zhang

Yapeng Zhang is a Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology's Astronomy Department. His research focuses on characterizing exoplanet atmospheres, circumstellar disks, and planet formation using high-resolution spectroscopy. He investigates atmospheric chemical composition, isotopic ratios, and escape processes to understand planetary evolution.

He holds a PhD in Astrophysics from Leiden University (2023) and MSc/BSc degrees from Leiden University and Nanjing University. Awards include the 51 Pegasi b Fellowship (2023) and Oort Scholarship (2017-2019). His work involves large telescope programs (Keck, JWST, VLT) and cross-disciplinary collaborations in astrophysics.
