معرفی
Jason Wang is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University's Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA) and the Physics and Astronomy department. His research focuses on imaging faint exoplanets using advanced techniques like coronagraphy, spectroscopy, and interferometry, with a focus on developing new instruments and machine learning tools for data analysis. He leads the BOBA Group, which studies planetary dynamics, atmospheres, and formation mechanisms.
Education: B.A. in Physics with Computer Science Minor (Cornell University), Ph.D. in Astrophysics (UC Berkeley), 51 Pegasi b Postdoc (Caltech).
Research Interests: Exoplanet imaging, high-resolution spectroscopy, optical interferometry (GRAVITY/VLTI), astrometric precision, and software development for astronomy. Key projects include the Keck Planet Imager and Characterizer (KPIC), Roman Space Telescope Coronagraph Instrument, and protoplanet studies in systems like PDS 70.
Publications Trends: Focus on exoplanet atmospheric characterization, dynamical mass measurements, and instrument performance optimizations. Recent work includes studies on HD 33632 Ab's composition, PDS70 protoplanet properties, and KPIC's photon noise limits.
- Awards: Sloan Fellowship, Scialog Fellowship.
- Advising: Guides 10+ graduate students and postdocs in observational astronomy and instrumentation.
- Labs/Teams: BOBA Group at Northwestern, KPIC Collaboration, GRAVITY Collaboration.
