Yap Chee is a Professor of Computer Science at the Courant Institute, New York University (since 1989). He has held academic positions at institutions such as the University of Southern California and has been a Visiting Professor at institutions including Oxford University and Seoul National University. His research focuses on computational geometry, computer algebra, robotics, and visualization. He has been continuously NSF-funded since 1984 and has secured over $5M in grants.

- Exact computation and symbolic-numeric methods
- Algorithmic foundations for robotics and visualization
