Yannis Kokkinakis is an Associate Professor of Modern History at the Department of History and Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Crete. He holds a PhD from the University of Crete (1998) on the Monetary History of the Greek State (1830-1910) and has been teaching Modern History at the University of Crete since 2001.

Research Interests: Kokkinakis specializes in monetary systems and policy, particularly in Greece from the 17th to 21st centuries, with additional expertise in welfare policy, Cretan history, American history, and the history of public health. His work bridges economic and social history across diverse temporal and geographical contexts.

- Visiting fellowship at Princeton University's Hellenic Studies Program
- Honorary fellowship at Burbeck College, University of London
Professional Experience: He worked as a researcher at the Institute of Mediterranean Studies and the National Bank of Greece before joining the University of Crete. Currently, he teaches Modern History and maintains office hours for students on Monday and Thursday afternoons.
