Dr. Yanning Li is a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) specializing in Events, Organisations and Operations at the University of Surrey. With over 10 years of industry experience at festivals like Glastonbury and MIDI Festival, her research examines event management, gig economy dynamics, social sustainability, and workforce well-being. She leads projects on gender equity, diversity in events, and COVID-19 recovery strategies.
Research explores organizational behavior in transient work environments, liminal experiences at festivals, and well-being challenges in gig economies. Publications analyze bystander responses to workplace abuse, sustainable tourism interactions, and remote research methodologies.
Education includes a PhD in Management from Leeds Beckett University, MSc in International Events Management (Distinction), and BA in Tourism and Event Management from Sun Yat-sen University. She collaborates with UNWTO on women's empowerment projects and UK event industry bodies on diversity benchmarking.
