معرفی
Yann Brenier is a Professor at the Orsay Mathematics Laboratory (LMO - Université Paris-Saclay, CNRS), renowned for his contributions to mathematics through fluid mechanics and optimal transport theory. His career spans prestigious institutions such as Université Pierre et Marie Curie (now Sorbonne Université), École des Ponts ParisTech, Université Côte-d'Azur (formerly Université de Nice), and École Polytechnique.
- Scientific Baccalaureate (1973), Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) for applied mathematics, and École des Ponts ParisTech for physics and engineering.
- DEA (Master's equivalent) in numerical analysis at UPMC, followed by a postgraduate thesis at IRIA (now Inria) on fluid mechanics in porous media.
His groundbreaking work includes the invention of the Transport-collapse theory and pivotal contributions to optimal transport theory, linking it to Monge-Ampère and Euler equations in fluid dynamics. This work has influenced fields from artificial intelligence to cosmology, particularly in modeling the early universe.
Scientific awards include the Grand Prix Ampère de l'électricité de France from the French Academy of Sciences (2022). His research has been recognized at major international congresses, and he continues to explore novel applications of optimal transport to Einstein's equations in general relativity.
Throughout his career, Brenier has mentored students and led collaborative projects, including the Wolfgang Döblin Research Federation and CNRS-Inria Mokaplan team. His interdisciplinary approach bridges mathematics, physics, and computational modeling.
