Yan Zhuang is an Associate Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Connecticut College, where she has been faculty since 2018.
Education:
- M.S. from Renmin University of China
- Ph.D. from University of Connecticut
Her research specializes in Sequential Analysis, Statistical Inference, Sampling Strategies, and Sample Size Determination, with strong emphasis on statistical consulting for interdisciplinary projects including drinking water quality violations and Medicare cost analysis. Current work focuses on two-sample mean comparison problems for normal distributions with preassigned error probabilities, while future research targets big data regression sample size determination.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent methodological contributions to sequential confidence interval estimation in Fisher's "Nile" framework, advancing fixed-accuracy and bounded-length techniques through maximum likelihood estimation and conditional inference approaches.
With nearly two years of statistical consulting experience at UCONN, she currently leads two active interdisciplinary collaborations: drinking water quality violation analysis and Medicare quality-cost assessment. Her teaching portfolio includes Statistical Computing with R and Advanced Regression Techniques, with planned course development in Categorical Data Analysis and Data Science.
