Yael de Haan

Prof. Dr. Yael de Haan is a Professor by Special Appointment in Local Public Broadcasting at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts, affiliated with the Research Centre for Media and Journalism Studies (CMJS). Her work focuses on journalism in digital transition, AI applications in media, and local journalism's role in public spaces. She holds leadership roles including Board Member of the Journalism Fund (Stimuleringsfonds voor de Journalistiek), Vice Chair of the European Communication Research and Education Association's Journalism section (ECREA), and Ethical Committee member for the 'Oorlog voor de Rechter' project. She also serves on the Supervisory Board of Sound and Vision (Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision).

Her research spans media credibility, educational strategies for future journalists, and investigative practices in medical journalism. She actively engages with media through interviews and public commentary on topics like disinformation, AI's impact on journalism, and media literacy among vocational students.
