Yaacov Yadgar is an Associate Professor at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, University of Oxford. His research focuses on the intersections of religion, political science, nationalism, modernity, secularism, and ethnicity, particularly within Israeli and Jewish contexts.
His work critically examines Zionist ideology, the politicization of Judaism, and the complexities of Israeli national identity. Key themes include the tension between secularism and tradition, the role of nostalgia in political analysis, and the implications of religious nationalism for multiculturalism and democracy.
