Xun "George" Wang is a Full Professor in the Sociology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Connecticut in 1995. His research focuses on China Studies, organizational behavior, comparative sociology, and social institutions in contemporary China. He has held various leadership roles, including Chairperson of the Institute for China Studies and Chairperson of the Committee on Research and Creative Activity. Professor Wang has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the University of Wisconsin System Teaching Scholar (2013–2015) and the Changjiang Scholar Award (as a judge).
His teaching interests include formal organizations, research methods, and Chinese social institutions. He has advised students whose work has been showcased at state-level events like the Posters in the Rotunda. Wang’s service extends to international committees, including the Chinese Government Scholarship Award Review Committee since 2005. He has authored/co-authored over 40 publications, including books like *Doing Sociology Worldwide* and articles in journals such as the *International Social Science Review* and *Journal of Career Assessment*.
Wang’s academic contributions bridge Chinese and global sociological discourse, with a focus on institutional dynamics, cross-cultural management, and demographic trends. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding sociological phenomena in transitional societies.
