Xufang Deng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiological Sciences at Oklahoma State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. With a Ph.D. in Veterinary Virology from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and postdoctoral training at Loyola University Chicago, Dr. Deng specializes in coronavirus-host interactions, vaccine design, and antiviral development. Dr. Deng's recent work focuses on PLpro inhibitors (e.g., Jun12682) with oral efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 variants, including nirmatrelvir-resistant strains. His studies on Nsp15 mutations reveal critical roles in suppressing interferon pathways and enhancing viral fitness in lung cells. Collaborations with Rutgers University and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign underpin his interdisciplinary approach.
