Xu Zhang

Dr. Xu Zhang serves as a Lecturer in Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia's School of Computing Sciences, where she joined in 2023. She actively contributes to the Cyber Intelligence and Networks and Data Science and AI research groups while supervising PhD candidates in transportation and communication systems.

Her academic foundation includes a BEng and MSc in telecommunication engineering from Xidian University and University of Science and Technology Beijing, followed by a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Surrey (2015). Prior to UEA, she accumulated significant industry and academic experience in China.

Dr. Zhang's research bridges transportation electrification and next-generation networking, with core expertise in E-Mobility infrastructure, Autonomous Valet Parking systems, UAV delivery networks, and 5G/6G-enabled VANETs. Her work addresses critical challenges in real-time control, security vulnerabilities, and energy management within smart mobility ecosystems.

Her 2025 publications reveal a cohesive research trajectory integrating charging infrastructure with autonomous systems, emphasizing security against cyber threats and spatial optimization in urban environments. Key themes include battery swapping reliability, air-ground delivery coordination, and resilient charging network design.

As principal investigator for the Royal Society-funded project 'Towards Information-Centric Charging Management based E-Mobility' (2025-2027), she leads research on next-generation e-mobility systems. She actively recruits PhD students through CSC scholarship opportunities and UEA funding channels.

Within UEA's research ecosystem, she collaborates through the Cyber Intelligence and Networks group and Data Science and AI cluster, focusing on practical implementations of communication technologies for sustainable transportation solutions.
