Xu Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan, with a courtesy appointment in the School of Information. Her research focuses on developing human-AI collaborative techniques to support education, particularly in scalable teaching and medical training. Her work includes AI systems for instructors, AR-based surgical learning tools, and generative AI for educational resources.
Education: Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University (advisors: Ken Koedinger and Carolyn Rose); M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School of Education; B.Sc. from Beijing Normal University.
Research Interests: Human-AI collaboration in education, AR systems for surgical training, AI-driven question generation, and teacher-AI collaboration in STEM education. Her lab, the Lifelong Learning Lab, explores intersections of HCI, learning sciences, and AI to optimize human learning.
